PO AI, which is stands for "air ular", locating at Sri Aman, Sarawak. The distance from Kuching to Sri Aman is about 189 km. The name was given because there are story about that area which is full of snake once upon a time. There are 31 rooms in the longhouse and there was about more than 100 people lives in there. Now, this longhouse named Rumah Wilson Bana has been declared as a homestay. Rumah Wison is a pretty established touristic longhouse. What’s unique about this longhouse is that it has a traditional ruai or corridor (made from belian poles/planks) but when we were invited by Mr Wilson himself, a retired policeman, to enter his room, we were amazed to see all the comforts of any modern house in the city. A very clever blend of modern and tradition. He encouraged tourists to go down to the ground floor which housed a kitchen and rooms for his homestay business. BTW, his longhouse is one of the lucky few to receive government grants.
There is a lot more activities provided for the tourists which is they can see Ngajat performances, songket waving, hiking etc.
Please note that the road sign of Po Ai on the main road has gone missing. We had to ask our way in.
